Here is my tribute to the late Jeff Buckley. Today is the 15th anniversary of his death. I love his version of this song so much I had to pay tribute to it. It’s rare to hear an artist with such heart coming through his voice! He is truly missed.
My goal isn’t to try to compare to the original, for that would be a hopeless endeavor. Instead, I thought it appropriate on the 15th anniversary of his death to do this as an homage to a great musician I look up to even after his death! We need more musicians like him in this world!
The song is by Leonard Norman Cohen. He is a WONDERFULLY talented songwriter and poet. His website is below. He has many other wonderful songs to hear!

Between the two of them they captured absolute magic in the original studio recording. If you haven’t heard it CHECK IT OUT!

LYRICS:
Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
there was a time when you let me know
What’s really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do you?
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath withdrew was Hallelujah
Maybe there’s a God above
all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
